For Field Day 2015, on June 27-28, WCARS will be operating independent stations at the Emergency Operations Center, located at 164 Erwin Hills Road. This is the same location where we alternate monthly ARES meetings. Take note however, that the entrance will be the SECOND gated entrance above the one where we usually enter.

Do not attempt to enter the THIRD gate as this is a secure BCSO area. (link to map).
It is less the 1/2 mile northeast of Erwin High School.

For very up to date info and changes please see the Smoke Test BLOG at
(Smoke Test BLOG ).

We will also have a guest operating station for visitors to "get on the air" and experience ham radio.

The public is invited to see WCARS in action and join the fun!

Why Operate Field Day?

To learn how to set up a functional Amateur Radio Station so as to work as many other amateur stations as possible on any and all amateur bands (excluding the 60, 30, 17, and 12-meter bands) and in doing so to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness as well as to acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio.
