Welcome to the
WCARS Web Site!
WCARS was founded in 1977 and incorporated under 501C(3) of the IRS
Code of 1954 on January 5, 1978.
WCARS
was formed from the merger of two established clubs in the
Asheville/Buncombe County area of Western North Carolina - the
Asheville Radio Club and the Buncombe County VHF Society. Through our
predecessor organizations we have been affiliated with the ARRL (American Radio
Relay League) since 1938.
WCARS is an ARRL
Special Services Club, serving the amateur radio community and the
public throughout Western North Carolina.
While a majority
of WCARS members live in the Asheville/Buncombe County Area, Radio
Amateurs and other interested persons from the surrounding area are
always welcome. Current WCARS Membership includes Hams from Haywood,
Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties in North Carolina, as
well as a few from South Carolina and Tennessee!
